Gila County Criminal Court Cases
Gila County criminal court cases do not all sit at one counter. Felony prosecutions and other matters within Superior Court jurisdiction are filed in the Superior Court of Arizona in Gila County. Its Clerk of Superior Court is the official custodian. The clerk records actions taken in court sessions, accepts criminal filings, keeps judgments and minute entries, and collects court-ordered fines and restitution. Superior Court service is available in both Globe and Payson.
Misdemeanor, traffic-criminal, and local ordinance matters can remain in a justice or municipal court. Globe, Miami, Payson, Star Valley, Hayden, and Winkelman have named municipal court channels, while Payson Regional Justice Court handles justice-court work. A name result is therefore only the first clue. Check the court name and case type before asking for a file.

Gila County Courts by Case Level
The court named on the citation, charging paper, or Arizona Public Access result controls the next step. Globe Municipal Court is at 150 N. Pine Street in Globe and handles city matters. Miami Municipal Court is listed at 1400 E. Ash Street, first floor, in Globe. Payson and Star Valley municipal matters use northern Gila County court channels. Hayden and Winkelman retain their own municipal contacts.

Searching Gila County Case Records
Start online, but finish with the court of record when accuracy or an official copy matters. Arizona Public Access covers participating courts across the state and uses a verification image before allowing a search. It updates weekly rather than in real time. Superior Court document access is a separate step through eAccess, and some documents may require an account or payment.

Gila County Court Search Layers
Public Access answers whether a participating court reports a public case and shows core docket data. It does not provide every filed document. For Superior Court criminal documents, move to Arizona eAccess. The eAccess portal is a document channel, not a substitute for checking which court owns the case.
When a docket appears but a motion, order, or judgment does not, the Gila County clerk remains the direct official-copy fallback.
For older files, missing online data, or a court outside the document portal, call or email the court of record. Superior Court records lines are 928-402-8866 in Globe and 928-474-3978 in Payson. The clerk also accepts its records request form. Municipal and justice courts maintain their own files, so sending every request to the county clerk can slow the search.
Note: Local ordinance charges are excluded from Arizona Public Access, so a blank statewide search may still require a municipal court call.

Minute entries are the court's written summaries of hearings or orders. A disposition is the current or final result. A dismissal is not a conviction, while a plea or finding of guilt may lead to a judgment and sentence. If a term is unclear, ask the clerk for the underlying minute entry rather than guessing from a short docket label.
Gila County Case Copies
The Gila County Clerk records request page is the official copy route for Superior Court files. The Globe office is at 1400 E. Ash Street, Globe, AZ 85501. The Payson satellite is at 714 S. Beeline Highway #104, Payson, AZ 85541. Requests may also go to gilacosc@courts.az.gov. Once the records clerk receives a request, staff contact the requester about availability and fees.

Audio requests use a separate form and require payment by an approved method plus a self-addressed stamped envelope. The NCOURT payment channel is available online and by phone. A certified copy is useful when an official seal or authentication is needed; a plain copy may be enough for personal review.
How a Criminal Case Moves
Once prosecutors file charges in Gila County, the case gains a court docket. Arraignment is the hearing where charges are formally addressed and a plea may be entered. Pretrial entries can include disclosure, motions, status conferences, plea talks, and trial preparation. The case then resolves by plea, dismissal, or trial before the court enters a disposition. Gila County Digital Court Evidence
Gila County Superior Court changed how trial exhibits move through the system. Arizona Judicial Branch announcements state that the court expanded Digital Evidence use to all case types for jury trials on February 1, 2025. The Clerk's exhibit policy also describes digital evidence for evidentiary hearings. This system supports evidence handling inside active proceedings; it does not turn all exhibits into open web downloads.

Verify Gila County Case Results
A statewide search result can lag, omit documents, or show a case status that needs context. Match the party, court, and case number first. Then read the most recent docket event and the result for each count. If the record affects a personal filing, sealing request, or understanding of sentence terms, obtain the relevant disposition or minute entry from the originating Gila County court.
Different records answer different questions. The arresting agency describes an incident and arrest. The jail records custody. The prosecutor files charges. Case Record Access & Restrictions
Arizona Public Access does not display sealed cases, juvenile incorrigible or delinquency matters, protection orders, mental-health or probate cases, or victim and witness data. Those exclusions are not evidence that no event occurred. They reflect court-access rules and privacy limits. Some active files may also contain redacted pages or records withheld by a specific order.
Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs public access to judicial records, while the general Arizona Public Records Law does not override court-specific limits. Eligible people may petition to seal criminal case records under A.R.S. ยง 13-911. A sealed Gila County case will disappear from public access even though authorized agencies retain duties under the law.
If a known public case is missing, contact the exact court with the name and case number. Ask whether the file is held locally, archived, sealed, restricted, or simply not available through the online system. The court of record, not a portal screenshot, gives the final answer.
